World War II saw the development of several intermediate rifle rounds for easier controllability in semiautomatic fire. The Winchester .30 Caliber Carbine was developed instead before US entry into the war for use in a small, auxiliary rifle for support troops. Developed from the .32 Winchester self-loading cartridge the .30 Carbine is often mistaken for being not much more powerful than a pistol round, yet with the right loads, it is quite impressive and easy shooting. The 110 grain soft point bullet by Sellier & Bellot has a muzzle velocity of 2001 feet per second with 978 foot pounds of energy. This is a round that is suitable for varmint and close range deer hunting as well as personal defense where hollow point ammunition is prohibited. Besides theM1 Carbine, there are several other firearms, rifles and handguns, that are also chambered in this caliber.

Sellier & Bellot has been in the munitions manufacturing business since the 1820’s, through both the self-contained cartridge and smokeless powder innovations as well as every major conflict in European history during that time. S&B is now known in the US as a quality sporting ammo producer with reloadable brass cases.
