Details

Introduced in 1955 as a varmint round, the .243 Winchester has since been upgraded to becoming a minimum caliber for both white and black tail deer hunting. While it is basically a necked down .308 Winchester, the cartridge has been widely accepted for its comparatively easy recoil and for bridging the gap between a small caliber, long range varmint round and more a traditional diameter middle sized game, albeit at closer ranges. This 100 grain jacketed soft point bullet has a stated muzzle velocity of 2904 feet per second with 1873 foot pounds behind it. It is a common round for entry level, specifically for younger or small of stature, hunters of deer with exceptional penetration at close range and expansion for further on out.

While Sellier & Bellot’s presence in the US ammunition market is relatively new, it has a 200 year old history in Europe. On the American side of the pond, the company’s recognition has grown steadily over the years as a brand of dependable quality and premium components. The company has provided ammunition for numerous nations and is now available on the global commercial market. As always, boxer primed brass cases are reloadable for additional value to hand loaders looking to make the “perfect” round for their .243 Winchester chambered firearm.
