Details

Developed in the 1950’s by Remington at the direction of Elmer Keith, the .44 Magnum was based on a lengthened .44 Special for use in handguns for hunting. Loaded with appropriate bullets to maximum energy, it is capable of taking on all North American game at close range, albeit with a fair amount of recoil and flash. Many hunters still enjoy the caliber out of a carbine or rifle, for better accuracy and range, but keeping the same caliber in a back up revolver. The 225 grain flex tip (FTX) bullet by Hornady has a muzzle velocity of 1410 feet per second and hits with a walloping 993 foot pounds of energy. This is a very impressive round for hunting or personal defense while in the woods. Further, the FTX bullet is safe for use in tube magazines without fear of inadvertently setting off the primer of the next round.

Hornady’s Flex Tip bullets provide superior ballistics while at the same time delivering maximum expansion on target. Shooters have been enjoying premium ammunition from Hornady since the 1960’s not only for their superior performance but also for the quality components, including reloadable cases. It is what the professionals load up with, be it for hunting or defense, for when each shot matters.
