That’s right. This 30-06 cartridge features Winchester’s most popular hunting bullet, which makes good on the accuracy and the terminal ballistics you need to amass an impressive pile of antlers.
The Power-Point is essentially a high-quality soft point. It hasn’t got a sharp polymer tip, but its nose and jacket profile are streamlined enough to give the 150 grain bullet a 0.299 G1 ballistic coefficient. You’re looking at a 3.5” arch when you’re zeroed in at 200 yards, and at least 1,500 ft lbs of energy on impact until 275 yards.
The Power-Point initiates expansion in the usual fashion for a soft point, which is to say its soft lead nose forces the front end of the projectile to flatten down. The Power-Point’s notched and tapered jacket is programmed for uniform expansion, and its alloyed lead core is tough to promote deep and deadly penetration.
A Winchester Super-X cartridge has consistent components all around, including a Boxer-primed brass case that you’ll want to make sure winds up at a reloading press.
