Your rifle’s really going to like this ammo. Your local gun range, on the other hand, might not, because the M855 bullet contains a steel penetrator tip. It’s awesome for home defense situations where you might need your shots to pierce barriers like multiple sheets of drywall and car doors, but that tip also makes the bullet magnetic.
The FMJ’s 62 grain weight gives it superior momentum downrange, so its trajectory can stay flatter and safer from wind deflection. You can get away with a 1:7 barrel twist just fine, but long-distance shooters will probably prefer this ammo’s performance out of a 1:8 or 1:9 twist barrel.
This ammo has fresh brass cases and non-corrosive Boxer primers, just like any of Winchester’s other new production ammo. (The gray cases have been annealed, but not subsequently polished.) These rounds are also loaded on stripper clips, so you can spend less time stuffing mags and more time dumping them! You even get a spoon – very nice.
