Do you want to survive a run-in with a dangerous critter, such as a bear that just emerged from hibernation, a bull moose that thinks you’re out to steal his potential mates, or a boar that’s just decided to be a jerk? Then we have two words of advice: 10mm pistol.
Underwood built this particular ammo for defense against dangerous critters. The hard cast bullet is (as you may already have known or intuited) hard. Its hardness is its chief weapon, as it enables the bullet to enter very deeply into a bulky critter’s body. Because it doesn’t expand, the hard cast avoids anchoring itself in soft tissue before it can access a mighty grizz’s ticker.
This round’s bullet has an attractive red coating. That’s Underwood’s “Black Cherry” polymer, which fully envelops the bullet, protects it against gas checking, and protects the bore against abrasion and fouling. No burning plastic smell!
This ammo has similar components to police duty loads. Flash-suppressed propellant spares you from getting blinded by your first shot in the dark. Nickel-plated brass cases cycle a little more reliably, and resist corrosion a whole lot better as well.
