This is a 40 S&W cartridge from Tula Cartridge Works, straight out of the heart of Russia. A savvy shooting enthusiast thinks about steel when they think of Russia, and this round doesn’t disappoint -- its casing is made of the metal in order to keep its cost low, and while along with its Berdan primer it’s not meant to be reloaded, the great savings this round represents are worthy of note.

This round will also attract a magnet thanks to its 180 grain projectile, which has got a bimetal jacket comprised of both steel and copper. The copper is the outer layer, so it’s still gentle on the bore, but you had better make certain your range will allow such cartridges before taking a case of them there.

Tula has been in business since 1880, and has been making steel cased ammo for the better part of one century. They supply the Russian military in addition to the private market throughout the world, and their ammo meets both Europe’s CIP specs as well as those of America’s SAAMI.
