Details

Tula Cartridge Works is one of the oldest small arms ammunition producers. Emperor Alexander II ordered the factory opened in 1880, and while they initially worked with brass cases they’ve since become one of the world’s best known steel cased ammo suppliers.

This 308 Win cartridge is relatively low-priced because its case contains none of the copper that makes brass so valuable. Tula coats their steel cases in a special polymer compound that inhibits corrosion until it can reduce friction throughout feeding and extraction. Whether you run this ammo through an AR-10 or a bolt-action, that polymer coating will facilitate smooth cycling.

Its steel case isn’t the only reason this round will attract a magnet. While it offers comparable ballistic performance to any other 308 Win round’s 150 grain FMJ, this bullet’s bimetal jacket is fortified with a substantial amount of steel. That’s something to keep in mind if you want to comply with certain ranges’ rules!

Berdan primers are yet another cost-saving feature, although this ammo is in no way corrosive. You’ll still want to clean your rifle a little more thoroughly after firing steel cased ammo, but you can otherwise clean your rifle normally without risking rust and pitting.
