Remington - Open Tip Match - 115 Grain 6.8 SPC Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
In 2002 the US military started looking into improving the capabilities of the m16/m4 type rifles. The 6.8 Special Purpose Carbine cartridge was born of this desire to increase the hitting power, especially over range and knock down power. From the start, the new round was designed to occupy the middle ground between the standard issue 5.56 and 7.62 NATO rounds, yet be able to operate off existing equipment. The 6.8 SPC delivers the desired ballistics but was ultimately found to require too many upgrades to existing issued rifles to be economically feasible to the US military on a large scale. Private shooters, however, have found the increased power to be perfectly applicable to their target, tactical and hunting purposes. The open tip 115 grain bullet by Remington has a muzzle velocity of 2625 feet per second with 1759 foot pounds of energy. It is a good round for match shooting and defense applications.
Remington arms is a name the US shooting world associates with a tradition that dates to 1816 New York. For the last 35 years Remington has produced ammunition from their modern plant in Lonoke Arkansas. Shooters also appreciate the quality of Remington brass for handloading specific loads for this custom capable caliber.
