Details

Introduced in 1898 to answer the deficiencies of the .38 Long Colt then in US military service, the .38 Special was found to have far more satisfactory results for both government and civilian applications. While the .45 became the standard US military side arm caliber shortly after, the .38 Special was kept as a secondary sidearm option and was quickly adopted by law enforcement and civilians thereafter. Appreciated for its manageable recoil and accuracy, the .38 Special also became the parent case for numerous alterations, not the least of which the .357 Magnum. Because of this versatility, the .38 Special is also a popular training or target round for magnum revolvers, but magnums cannot be safely fired in .38 Special chambers. The 130 grain full metal jacket round by Remington possesses a muzzle velocity of 790 feet per second with around 173 foot pounds of energy. This is a reasonably clean firing training or target round, suitable for indoor ranges.

For over two hundred years the Remington name has remained associated with quality American firearms and dependable ammunition. Ammunition is produced today in the Lonoke, Arkansas plant - as it has been for the last 35 years - with quality brass, boxer primed cases. Shooters find this half case a convenient item to have near their range bag to be ready when they are.
