Details

This PMC X-TAC brand 5.56x45 M855 cartridge is loaded with a special full metal jacket – and not just because it’s a little heavier than normal at 62 grains. The M855 (which PMC calls “light armor piercing,” or LAP) projectile’s core is divided into two sections: lead in back, steel in front. The front section is why the M855 pierces sheet more effectively than a normal (e.g. M193) FMJ.

This ammo is not a violation of the ATF ban on “armor piercing” ammo. According to the ATF, “armor piercing” means “a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun[...]” The 5.56 bullet is not larger than .22 cal. The 5.56 also isn’t designed and intended for use in a handgun. This ammo is magnetic, though, so take care that you can’t fire it at all gun ranges.

PMC is South Korea’s primary small arms ammo manufacturer, which mints new brass cases (reloadable) and loads them with noncorrosive Boxer primers. PMC packaged this new, commercial production ammo in the same fashion as they would for the South Korean military. You get 84 loaded stripper clips, six bandoliers to carry the clips in, and a new M2A1 ammo can to carry the bandoliers in. An excellent addition to any prepper’s stash!
