The .300 AAC Blackout ammo was developed to give the AR15/M4 carbine a larger bullet and more impressive knockdown power without requiring a different magazine set up than the STANAG, or standard 5.56 NATO mags. The .300 delivers a .30 caliber bullet at slightly less ballistics than the intended 7.62x39 objective, but it does cycle effectively with an appropriate upper receiver and is also ideal for operating in a suppressed rifle with subsonic ammunition, making it a popular, unofficial choice for law enforcement and military agencies trained in special weapons and tactics.

The 115 grain flat based, hollow point bullet by Magtech is acceptable for use as a training round or as a personal defense round; it has a muzzle velocity of 2280 feet per second with 1328 foot pounds of energy.

In 1990 Magtech was created and began being distributed as a banner ammunition maker under the South American corporation, the CBC Group. Maintaining a reputation for dependability in company (literally) with CCI, Sellier & Bellot and Estate, among others, this company is one of the most popular choices for range and training ammunition in the US today. That reputation has supported the company in expanding its lines of specific purpose ammunition, personal defense for example, and all maintain quality components that include reloadable cases.
