It’s a glowing achievement for an ammo designer when foreign companies start producing their new cartridge. Case in point: this 6.5 Creedmoor round, invented by Hornady in 2007 and manufactured by Magtech. It does justice to Hornady’s big idea, too, because it delivers the accuracy that made it a good one.

This cartridge has a 140 grain bullet, a weight shared by several hunting rounds in its caliber. Magtech gave it the boat tail a target shooting projectile needs to stay safer from wind and stay faster downrange. Its muzzle velocity is 2,660 fps, and it loses only 31 percent of that speed by the 500 yard mark.
