One of the greatest selling points of the 5.56NATO/.223 Remington cartridge to the military was the number of shots per weight and size ratio: the round’s diminutive size allows for more shots per pound carried or storage space used, making it ideal for slugging around or for stockpiling: it is not how well you shoot, it is about how much you can shoot.
