Details

Sometimes referred to as the “10mm Auto Short,” the .40 Smith & Wesson was introduced in 1990 because the FBI was in desperate need of a more potent side arm round than what was then available in 9mm. While the feds did initially adopt the 10mm, it was found to have too much recoil for too many agents, so the decision was made to shorten the case marginally to improve controllability. While the 165 grain .40 maintains the penetrative characteristics the FBI was shooting for, the 180 grain is more akin to a fast .45 acp with a higher capacity magazine. The full metal jacketed, 180 grain bullet by Magtech leaves the muzzle at 990 feet per second, hitting with 392 ft lbs of energy. It is ideal for range training or target shooting without the excessive wear and tear the hotter .40 delivers.

Since being introduced at the same time in 1990, Magtech has gained a great many followers too for providing reliable training ammunition at an affordable price. Additional value is found in the reloadable cases Magtech uses for those looking to handload their cartridges. This 1000 round case is just what you need for keeping on hand for training or target use.
