Hornady - Z-MAX - 185 Grain 45 ACP Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
Introduced in 1905 as the round to be used in his Automatic Colt Pistol model of the same year, John Browning managed to strike a nerve with his new .45 acp round. Though it has served the US military for 70 years, and beyond in less official capacities, and largely replaced by small calibers for higher capacity, the continues to offer comfort and ease of shooting into a second century of service to professional and casual handgun shooters. The 185 grain Z Max bullet by Hornady has a muzzle velocity of 900 feet per second with 333 foot pounds of energy behind it. The 185 grain bullet achieves a higher velocity than the standard 230 grain .45 ACP round, making it similar to the “heavier and slower” .40 Smith & Wesson cartridge, but the expanding bullet by Hornady has a larger wound channel. Despite the glib marketing, this is a premium personal defense round.
The Hornady name has been virtually synonymous with effective defensive ammunition since the 1960’s. The V-Max bullet has a polymer tip for superior ballistics that has equally impressive expansion in the target. The Z-Max is the same product, just with a limited edition branding. As always, all Hornady ammunition is loaded in boxer primed, reloadable cases.
