This cartridge is not loaded with the tried-and-true 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. Its FMJ tips the scales at a decidedly heftier 62 grains. What’s the point? Well, that added mass conveys added momentum, which the bullet capably uses to overcome wind deflection. It also gives the bullet very similar ballistic performance to the 5.56 M855 – but it hasn’t got any steel inside it, and as such cannot attract a magnet.

BLACK label ammunition performs reliably in any sort of 223 or 5.56 firearm you could name, regardless of its barrel length or whether or not it is outfitted with a suppressor (noting that Hornady recorded this round’s MV with a 24” barrel). Brand new brass cases, folks – reload ‘em all you care to!
