Precision. It’s the fundamental concept that underpins all of civilization. How do you express exactly which idea you are thinking? How do you design exactly the machine you are envisioning? How do you put a .30 caliber projectile exactly where you mean to? The answer is always the same: precision.
This is Hornady’s BLACK label 300 AAC Blackout ammunition. Each round is loaded with a 208 grain A-MAX projectile, which features an ultra low-drag tip, aerodynamic secant ogive jacket profile, and perfectly angled boat tail. But the A-MAX doesn’t just excel when it comes to overcoming frontal air resistance. Thanks to its Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket – which possesses effectively zero tolerance for concentricity variation – it also possesses the balance requisite to deliver an exquisitely predictable trajectory.
One thing the A-MAX lacks is the ability to undergo terminal expansion. This ammo may not be suitable for hunting medium game, but its subsonic muzzle velocity (1,020 fps; 16” test barrel) does make its report a whole lot easier on the ears. A subsonic muzzle velocity also completely eliminates the issue of transonic destabilization – yet another precision-enhancing feature.
All that and high-quality reloadable brass cases, primers and propellant to boot! No wonder why Hornady’s motto is “Ten bullets through one hole.”
