This round’s bullet may be lighter at 50 grains, but its 0.242 G1 ballistic coefficient is still on par with that a standard 55 grain FMJ load. That’s because the V-MAX’s sharp tip enables it to dive cleanly through the air, and its Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket contains virtually zero flaws that could have negatively impacted its balance.

The V-MAX’s swaged lead core sits almost flush with the jacket’s thin rim, and has a deep precision-formed nose cavity. The polymer tip, which rests on the jacket rim, extends a tail deep into the nose cavity – but stops just short of touching its base. On impact, the tip gains a brief burst of momentum before finally colliding with the base. That forces the bullet to self-detonate, slinging around sharp fragments of lead and copper which are extremely hazardous to any small quarry’s health (to say the least).
