This round is loaded with a heavyweight 158 grain projectile – the only reason why its muzzle velocity clocks so low at 730 fps. As a full metal jacket, the bullet has precisely the copper-alloy coating it needs to decelerate fouling inside a revolver’s barrel. The FMJ’s round nose profile isn’t ideal for a lever-action rifle’s tubular magazine, although it does streamline the bullet to promote greater overall accuracy.
