Federal Premium puts their American Eagle label on a wide assortment of the cartridges folks like shooting targets with. We’re happy to say that includes the little speed demon known as the 5.7x28mm!

Truly a straightforward solution to plinking and training, right here. Each cartridge is outfitted with the 5.7’s popular 40 grain projectile – a full metal jacket, with a comparable nose profile to that of a polymer tipped bullet. Its lead core and hard copper jacket provide the consistent point of aim you want for target practice, but not the terminal ballistics that would ideally be working in your favor during a self-defense scenario.

Federal used a 4.8” barrel to record this round’s 1,655 fps muzzle velocity, which is not coincidentally the same barrel length as an FN Five-seveN. The Ruger-57 has a slightly longer barrel at 4.94”, so it is possible you would get a slightly higher muzzle velocity out of that particular pistol.
