Details

Black Hills’ 55 grain soft point bullet has a muzzle velocity of 3200 feet per second with 1250 foot pounds of energy. The soft point bullet is ideal for small to medium, especially coyotes and similar sized game. Another bonus is that the bore size makes brings it under caliber restrictions that are becoming common in many areas.

Well known for their cowboy action ammunition, Black Hills also provides cartridges to the US military competitions teams. Top quality performance at a portion of what would otherwise be the cost.

Remington’s .223 cartridge appears to be the round for all purposes when it comes to medium range rifles. Developed in 1962 from the Remington .222 varmint cartridge, it has had a difficult time being seen as anything more than that despite used by the U.S. military and NATO with its 5.56x45mm twin. But being a high performance varmint round is not at all a bad thing: with appropriate bullets the caliber is even used to take down deer. Nor is being able to be easily reloaded and sent back out into the field.
