Federal Premium Personal Defense Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) 150 Grain 9mm Luger (9x19) Ammo - 20 Rounds
Somewhat maligned by traditionalist .45 ACP shooters, 9mm ammo has withstood the test of time. In fact, it is technically six years older than the .45 and continues to be one of the most popular sidearm calibers in the world. This is because of cost effectiveness as well as bullet versatility making the chamber well suited for multiple applications. This can include slower moving bullets that do not over penetrate as the standard FMJ ball ammo is [in]famous for doing.
This Federal 150 grain jacketed hollow point 9x19 ammo is loaded with an HST bullet that has a muzzle velocity of 900 feet per second with 270 foot pounds of energy. This is a personal defense round designed to hit and stop without worries of passing through the intended target or passing through backstops.
The HST bullet by Federal was introduced in 2002 exclusively for law enforcement use as being a 9mm round that was safe for use at close range that would not fragment or go through targets and endanger bystanders. Instead of using a bonding technology to bind core and jacket together, the lower velocity round makes use of a cannelure or groove to hold the core within the jacket. The HST bullets were made available to the civilian market in 2015.
