Federal Open Tip Match 168 Grain 308 Winchester (7.62X51) Ammo - 200 Rounds
Details
Introduced in 1954, the 7.62 x51, or 7.62 NATO round, was made as a uniform rifle round for NATO forces and to specifically replace the .30-06 Springfield in the US military: the shorter case cycles in semi and full automatic weapons more easily. Yet despite this, the round is able to deliver reliable and consistent performance to that of the ’06 out to 800 yards or more with what can only be described as comforting accuracy. The 168 grain open tip bullet by Federal has a muzzle velocity of 2650 feet per second with 2619 foot pounds of energy. This is a cartridge perfect for target shooting but comes into its own as a premium performing competition round. Open Tip Match (OTM) bullet are NOT hollow point, ballistically speaking. However, some districts may consider it a hollow point, so this round is specifically for target shooting.
Federal’s reputation for premium hunting and target rounds began in Minnesota in 1922. Since then, their top of the line has been a trusted tool in putting shots on target. Their American Eagle line is considered their range and training ammo, but still has the dependability and consistency of their top shelf branding. As always, all Federal cases are boxer primed and reloadable.
