Federal Gold Medal Hollow-Point Boat Tail (HP-BT) 168 Grain 308 Winchester (7.62X51) Ammo - 20 Rounds
Federal ‘s .308 Gold Medal hollow point boat tail (HPBT) ammo is designed for precision and accuracy. In this load, the bullet exits the muzzle at 2,650 feet per second with 2600+ foot pounds of energy. This .308 ammo is designed for shooting in competitive matches or long range tactical shooting in mind.
Development on what became the 7.62x51mm NATO round was begun after World War I when the US military found that the standard .30-06 round was difficult to control in semi and full automatic firearms. While the M-1 Garand kept the -06 in service through two more wars, the 7.62 NATO's shorter case made it ideal for shorter actions and more controllable on squad automatic weapons. By the mid 1950's the 7.62 NATO was adopted for use in the US military to make it compliant with the standards of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Today the cartridge is still used in the military as a crew or vehicle mounted weapon.
Since the 1920's, Federal has made ammunition tucked away in the woods of Minnesota. It is known as a manufacturer trusted for dependability and consistency of performance. Their Premium Gold brand is the performance grade ammunition that is equally trusted for performance for when the long distance shot needs to be on target the first time, every time.
