Details

.308 Norma Magnum ammo (7.62x65mm) was developed as a new, high performance round that could be accommodated by surplus M98 action Mauser rifles available after World War II. It was an 8mm wildcat cartridge billed as a “poor man’s magnum” cartridge as it was built off of a .300 H&H Magnum case. Though it was in short order popularly replaced by the .300 Winchester Magnum it remains a popular choice for custom smiths of the reliable 98 Mauser action. Additionally, it provided performance data for the more commonly seen .358 Norma Magnum. HSM’s 168 grain hollow point, boat tailed bullet has a muzzle velocity of 3137 feet per second with a stupefying 3672 foot pounds of energy. This is an ideal sporting round for target shooting, but most especially for game hunting, specifically elk, boar and of course deer.

HSM, The Hunting Shack began ammo making in 1968 with Bill Campbell and has since grown steadily into a full line munitions provider under the Campbell family. Well known, especially to big game hunters not only in North America, but throughout the world, HSM products provide reliable performance on reloadable, brass cases: a not inconsiderable consideration for shooters of this uncommon caliber.
