308 - 146 Grain FMJ - Hirtenberger - 960 Rounds
Details
The widespread “standardization” of the .308 Winchester round means that there are many nations and companies that provide it for their own use as well as for commercial export. Introduced in the early 1950’s first as the Winchester round then as a virtually identical military version: the 7.62x51 NATO, has made the caliber an international property with multiple sources and users participating in real world testing that determines which brands are satisfactory and which are not. Hirtenberger’s 146 grain full metal jacket bullet is tracked leaving the muzzle at 2741 ft per sec with 2428 ft lbs of energy. This is an ideal target or gun training round that is also acceptable as a competition round in either formal or informal CMP type matches and even civil defense. The 960 round case is perfect to keep on hand for range day, match training or simply for worst case scenario prepping.
The Austria based Hirtenberger Defense has been taken over by the larger ammunition distributor RUAG Ammotec with facilities in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Sweden with distribution enters in those countries as well as France, the US and the US. Originally producers of ammunition for both small arms and artillery, it is a major provider of military grade munitions to some of the largest members of the NATO alliance. Non corrosive cases are berdan primed for long shelf life and reliable service.
