30-30 Ammo

30-30 Winchester ammo is designed for use in lever-action rifles and was introduced for the Winchester Model 1894. Other names for this cartridge include .30 WC (Winchester Center Fire) and the metric designation 7.62x51mmR.

A medium-power cartridge suitable for medium-range hunting, the 30-30 Winchester usually fires medium weight (about 130 grain) soft point bullets at about 2,500 feet per second. This results in good expansion against various animals including deer and varmints.

30-30 ammo typically fires bullets with a round nose that ensures that they can sit against the primer of another cartridge in a tubular magazine safely. One notable exception is the Hornady Leverevolution series, which features polymer-tipped projectiles that provide enhanced ballistics without compromising safety.
