Hornady - V-MAX - 17 Grain 17 HM2 Ammo - 50 Rounds
Details
After the commercial success of the .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire, the company released the .17 HM2, the Hornady Mach 2, based upon the necked down .22 LR. The idea is to have a lighter bullet able to hit radically higher velocities with a flatter trajectory, at a fraction of the cost and recoil of similarly performing centerfire cartridges. The 17 grain bullet has a muzzle velocity of approximately 2100 feet per second and over 160 foot pounds of energy. The full metal jacket offers superior accuracy to the target while the v-max tip is driven into the core of the bullet on impact giving impressive expansion. As such, this is a very sought after hunting round capable of taking down some of the most robust of varmints.
From the meager beginnings of bullet jacket making from spent rimfire cases during World War II, Hornady, with Speer as a partner, began making premium hunting and self defense ammunition in the 1960's. Today, the different types of bullet designs from Hornady keeps them at the forefront of developing munitions technology. Hunters and precision shooters alike choose Hornady for when each shot counts.
