Developed in 1871-1873 for the Colt Single Action Army revolver that became iconic to the American frontier, the .45 Long Colt is often assumed to be the bullet that won the west. This is because virtually every western movie shows the Colt .45 in all of its glory, but Hornady has made this old work horse fit for the 21st century. The 225 grain jacketed polymer point bullet has a muzzle velocity of 1000 fps with 500 ft lbs. For hunting or self defense, this round delivers impressive and obvious effects. It is perfect for the modern .45 LC revolvers or for shooting something "light" out of your .454 Casull. The flex tip makes shooting out of tubular magazine carbine or rifle perfectly safe as the polymer end will not set off the primer of the round in front.

Hornady began in the ammunition business with what became Speer Bullets, initially manufacturing bullet jackets out of spent rimfire brass during World War II. By the 1960's Hornady became a recognized maker of premium hunting and self defense ammunition. As always, cases are reloadable, though the cartridges are well worth the price for but one use each: Hornady delivers desired performance each and every time.
