Details

Developed in 1962 and entering production in 1964, the .223 Remington has become perhaps the most popular rifle cartridge in North America in the military and both civilian law enforcement and private use. A descendent of the .222 Remington cartridge, the .223 was developed to compete in the US army’s selection process for a new, light weight round to supplement the 7.62mm NATO round. While the .223 was adopted, it was later replaced by the almost physically identical 5.56 NATO: firearms in the latter caliber can chamber and fire the .223, but .223 chambers should not fire the 5.56. This makes the .223 cartridge very versatile being acceptable to both chambers. The 55 grain FMJ bullet by Federal exits the muzzle ate 3240 feet per second with 1282 foot pounds of energy. This is perfect for target shooting and range training as well as for competitions.

Federal ammunition is a name that is trusted in the US for reliable and consistent performance. In business since the 1920’s in Minnesota, the reloadable cases by Federal are prized by shooters who reload for additional value. The Federal black box is the perfect addition to your range bag to keep the your rifle merrily plinking away.
