Details

Got some unique 38 Special ammunition in store for you today, stranger! This cartridge by CCI of Idaho is loaded with 100 grains of #9 shot, which is to say that it fires approximately 134 lead pellets that are each 0.08” in diameter.

What’s the point? Well, if you’ve got the skills you’d need to hit a snake, scorpion, spider, rat or other small and undesirable critter with a standard bullet, have right at it. But if you want to turn your 38 Special or 357 Magnum firearm into a tiny shotgun, then here’s the ammo you need to do it! As soon as ignition destroys this cartridge's blue plastic cap, it'll let loose all of its deadly little shot pellets.

This cartridge’s 1,000 fps muzzle velocity was recorded using a 6” barrel, although snubnoses will fire it just fine, too. (This ammo may not function correctly in rifles – but at that point you’d might as well just use a shotgun.) Importantly, you do not want to fire this ammo in a revolver with a ported barrel or compensator. Doing so could bounce shot pellets back at your face.

These rounds have aluminum cases, which are not reloadable. CCI furnishes this ammo with Berdan primers as their way of discouraging people from trying to reload its cases, as a Berdan primer’s twin flash holes mean that it cannot be replaced with a Boxer primer. (None of this matters if you don’t care about handloading anyway.)
