First: NOT CARCANO. The 6.5x52 Rimmed cartridge is a separate entity with its own lineage. It is considered a variant of the Winchester .25-35 bullet that was introduced in 1895 that was suitable for small to medium sized deer depending on range. The European version, the 6.5x52R, appears to have used the Winchester round as a guideline, but variations in chamber pressures between the two have encouraged them to be considered different cartridges: no interchangeability between the two should be assumed. It is acceptable for use in many German made Drilling and single shot sporting rifles with this caliber.

S&B’s 117 grain soft point bullet has a muzzle velocity of 2208 feet per second with 1267 foot pounds of energy. This is an acceptable hunting round, but still for close range medium game or smaller game and varmints further out.

Sellier & Bellot has been in the “ammo making business” since 1825 and as such has participated in every technological advance of self-contained, metallic cartridge technology. In 2009 they were joined with the CBC Group and have experienced a noticeable surge in manufacturing and distribution. S&B ammo is loaded on quality brass cases that are reloadable, a welcome feature especially with this less frequently encountered caliber.
