Fiocchi Perfecta - Full Metal Jacket - 170 Grain 40 Smith & Wesson - 1000 Rounds
Details
Smith & Wesson introduced .40 S&W ammo in 1990. It is essentially a 10mm Auto “short” that was designed to be a more manageable version of the 10 at the request of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the pursuit of a sidearm caliber with more knockdown than the 9mm but without the recoil of the parent case. The .40 has served for almost thirty years as a standard LEO round and while many departments have gone to new 9mm bullet types, it remains a popular choice for security, sporting and recreational applications.
The 170 grain, full metal jacketed round by Fiocchi’s Perfecta line has a muzzle velocity of 1099 ft per sec with 1280 ft lbs. This is a training round designed to mimic the performance, and recoil, of defensive rounds without the prohibitive cost of burning hundreds of rounds at the range.
Fiocchi has been making ammunition since the 1870’s and the start of the self-contained cartridge revolution. Now made in the US, the Perfecta line is provided with a conscious effort that the range going public has a wide choice of training and target shooting ammunition to choose from. While offering the standard reloadable brass and consistently performing bullets, Perfecta also offers the latest mix of propellant designed for efficient and clean burns to reduce fouling and provide optimum performance.
