Winchester Xpert High Velocity #6 Shot 1 oz. 2-3/4" 12 Gauge Ammo - 100 Rounds
Details
For bird hunting, the 12 gauge shotgun is ideal for its blast radius and relatively short range: the shot will not travel for up to a mile and cause unintended harm. This still requires good sense and judgement in the field, of course. Steel shot, the most common alternative to lead which is banned for use in wetlands, has a lower density than lead and therefor a higher velocity and increased range: this also translates into deeper penetration and higher terminal results.
Winchester’s 12 gauge, 2.75 inch shell is loaded with up to 317 steel pellets measuring .11” in diameter that can reach as high as 1325 feet per second. This is suitable for medium sized water fowl, and 100 shells offers at least a little bit of responsible quality time out in nature.
With the mandate to ban lead shot only while hunting water fowl, shot shell manufacturers were called upon to develop a wadding that would protect barrels from the scouring of steel shot travelling at over a thousand feet per second. Winchester was among the first to answer the need. With ammunition made in their Clayton, Missouri facility, the company is proud to keep American hunters in the field no matter the obstacles they may face.
