Silver State Armory - Hollow Point - 115 Grain 6.8 SPC Ammo - 200 Rounds
In 2003 the US military began looking into alternative calibers to the standard 5.56 NATO round because there were concerns over the caliber’s ballistic values out of the standard M4 carbine. The 6.8 Special Purpose Carbine cartridge was one alternative proposed and put into limited use for testing. It offered similar ballistics as the Russian 7.62x39 for knock down and wound channeling. The only provision was to make the caliber capable of being used on the M4 platform. The 6.8 SPC can be used with a simple upper receiver trade out. The military chose not to do a full replacement of the 5.56, though the caliber was adopted for special force units for purpose specific roles. Commercially the caliber is popular with AR shooters who want a harder hitting round for hunting. The 115 grain hollow point bullet by Silver State Armory has a muzzle velocity of 2575 ft per sec with 1694 ft lbs of energy. This is ideal for personal and civil defense.
Silver State Armory remains one of the highest quality manufacturers of the 6.8 SPC round for both civilian and military uses. With state of the art manufactured brass and bullet design, they deliver precisely what the military was looking for in this alternate caliber. The 200 round case is ideal for keeping the 6.8 upper of yours ready to serve.
