Rio Ammunition - #00 Buck - 9 Pellet 12 Gauge Ammo - 25 Rounds
There is something about a 12 gauge shotgun that offers a sense of security that few other firearms can provide. Certainly they are larger than most other personal defense guns, louder and can deliver a recoil that is detrimental to the unprepared. Yet, delivering multiple projectiles at terminal velocity is something that engenders respect by those on either side of the muzzle. It is the simplest of firearms yet remains the most effective for close in defense or sport hunting without the risk of sending the shot out over a mile or more.
These 2.75” 12 gauge shells by RIO shoot up to nine 8mm diameter pellets at approximately 1200 feet per second from the muzzle. These loads are good for hunting deer at close range. As you might know, the 12 gauge continues to be the choice of law enforcement and home owners who rely on the point and shoot method of defensive firearms use.
Rio ammunition began as MAXAM or the Union Espanola de Explosivos (UEE) in 1896. In 2002 shotgun production began in the US, ultimately with production facilities in Texas and Tennessee. Annual production tops out at 500 million shells which are used in competitive and production shows all over the world.
