Details

Though the .357 Magnum was created almost exclusively for the use of law enforcement in 1934, but since that time it has become a favored hunting and personal defense caliber. In what is essentially a lengthened .38 Smith & Wesson Special, the .357 was an easy to use high powered alternative for police officers who were trained with revolvers. Later it became popular for hunting and for use in silhouette target shooting. When used out of carbines the caliber proves quite capable of taking down deer at close to medium ranges and is more than capable of dealing with most woodland predators. Nor has it been abandoned as a law enforcement round in departments that still permit revolvers. The 158 grain, semi jacketed, hollow point bullet by Remington has a muzzle velocity 1235 feet per second with 535 foot pounds of energy. This is primarily designed as a personal defense round.

Remington ammunition continues to maintain a reputation for dependability that was established by the arms company at its founding in 1816. Their primary ammunition manufacturing facility is located in Lonoke, Arkansas and is one of the most trusted sources for performance ammunition. Reloadable cases only added more value to their product.
