The .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire was introduced in 1959, though it took another two years before a commercially provided firearm was chambered for it. Initially provided as a varmint hunting round and also popular for competitive target shooting, in recent years it has become increasingly popular as a personal defense round. The virtually nil recoil and the potential for increased capacity, it is easy to see why given the bullet’s ballistic energy. Its greatest detriment is the diameter of the round against larger targets, but what it lacks in caliber it makes up for in number or shots. The 40 grain hollow point bullet by Remington has a muzzle velocity of 1910 feet per second with 324 foot pounds behind it. This travels faster and can penetrates deeper than a 9mm. It is designed for varmint hunting and is a common choice for use in personal defense either in urban or rural environments.

Remington continues to provide dependably performing ammunition over two hundred years after the company’s founding in New York. Today most of its domestic ammunition is produced in their Lonoke, Arkansas facility. This 500 round lot is great for keeping on hand for defense against rampaging varmints and pest control. No matter how big the pest.
