Details

The cartridge of the people’s revolutionary etc. etc. etc. The Russian 7.62x39 cartridge has been adopted by virtually half the world’s nations and political organizations. The fundamental reason behind this is because it is cheap and plentiful but an important justification is that it is also dependable and consistent in performance. While it may not provide the most accuracy at distances over 300 yards (though in a precision firearm, there is no reason that it will not) it will provide reliable performance over and over no matter the environmental conditions. The 124 grain bullet by Tula provides a marginal increase in cycling reliability and many observers have noticed it group a little better given an increase in stability. It muzzle velocity is 2330 feet per second and can have a muzzle energy in excess of 1600 foot pounds. It is a training and firearms familiarity round, and given it is what SKS and AK pattern rifles were designed to fire, is an acceptable match round for those firearms.

Providing all those soldiers and revolutionaries enough ammunition to use has been no small achievement, and Tula Cartridge Works played no small part in it. Made to the exacting standards of the Russian military – where they pride functionality above all else – theses steel cased, non-corrosive cartridges are Berdan primed: designed for assured initial use whenever needed, with no concern for reuse.
